One of my favorite lifestyle & mama bloggers, Bre Sheppard, inspired this post when she posted all of the items that she is still using for her daughter Taya! I thought it was such a cute & helpful idea to share all of the items that will last through the newborn stage to the toddler stage.
When you’re pregnant, especially with your first, it can be overwhelming to create a registry with so so many baby products out there. I had no idea what to buy or register for! I wanted to buy quality items that my daughter would actually use.
Now we are almost two years in with my daughter Blakely, we have survived the newborn stage, and are beginning the season into toddlerhood. Though there were MANY items that were a life-saver in the newborn stage, only a few have stayed tried and true to the toddler years.
I hope that you find this post helpful and can see from a mama who has been there what products you’ll most likely buy for your newborn that you’ll use for years to come!

1. HATCH SOUND MACHINE

If I could recommend one product from this list of 10, this would be it!! We use this sound machine daily & always take it with us whenever we travel with Blakely. The main features we use on it are the nightlight & the white noise. But that’s not all it offers. It has many sounds you can choose from (bird noises, waterfall, twinkle twinkle little star, etc) & it lights up in almost every color you can think of.
The best part is I can control it all from my phone. They have an app that lets you connect to your Hatch device, so you can adjust the sound and lighting at any time. This definitely comes in handy when I forgot to turn down the nightlight or up the white noise, but don’t want to go back in her room and risk waking her up!
2. SLEEP SACK

We have used the Halo swaddle & sleep sack since the first night Blakely left the hospital all the way up to now! She is currently in the x-large (size 18-24 months) sleep sack, but they offer it all the way down to the newborn size in a swaddle version.
This is one of the most affordable brands of sleep sacks out there which is nice since you might want to have a spare or two when you need to wash it. Probably the best part about it is she hasn’t figured out how to climb over the crib because she can’t get her leg up over it in the sleep sack. Lol! Just mom things!!!
Tip: they do run large, so size down if your babe is on the smaller side!
3. SOFT CRIB SHEET

We received this personalized crib sheet in blush at a baby shower, and are still using it for Blakely’s crib! I am just as obsessed with it as I was when I first received it. It is SO extremely soft & stretchy, so beautiful and I love how it adds a personalized touch to Blakely’s nursery.
4. PACK N PLAY

When we travel we still use a pack n play for Blakely, and after using a few different brands this Baby Bjorn one has become our favorite. What I love most about it is how nicely it fits into its travel sized bag, and how extremely easy to set up & take down (& that’s coming from someone who is not good at that kind of stuff!).
5. BABY MONITOR

When looking for monitors when I was pregnant, I knew I wanted one without WiFi because at the time I was reading articles about how the WiFi ones are more likely to get hacked. Ah! Totally don’t know the odds of that happening, but I didn’t want to take the chances.
We love our Motorola baby monitor & will probably use it for as long as Blakely is in her crib (or longer!). It’s held up so well after traveling many many times with us & is so easy to use.
6. PAMPERS DIAPERS

Pampers diapers have been our go to brand for diapers since Blakely was a newborn! After almost two years of moving up in sizes in this brand, it has remained our favorite. They are soft, they fit Blakely nice and snug, and are great for overnight use.
My favorite part (and I don’t know if other brands do this) is that they have an app where you can earn money back by just scanning the code on the inside of the diapers or wipes! That makes spending so much money towards diapers a little less painful haha.
7. HONEST KIDS BATH SOAP

I can’t say enough good things about this brand. With so many products out in the market that have hidden harmful ingredients, I feel safe using this brand on my daughter. Their bath supplies, as well as all of their other products, are so mindfully made, clean & sustainable.
My favorite product from them is their fragrance-free sensitive bath collection that includes a bubble bath, shampoo + body wash, as well as body lotion. It’s gentle, tear-free, and & makes bath-time easy & fun.
8. CAR MONITOR

Most mamas use some kind of car mirror to check on their baby while they’re driving, but I was gifted this car monitor which does the same thing. But better (in my opinion).
This car monitor attaches to the seat in front of your rear-facing babe and the monitor attaches to your dashboard. This has come in handy SO MANY times, especially on road trips when I’m traveling alone with Blakely. There is a reason is has almost 12,000 5 star reviews on Amazon!
9. DIAPER BAG

To be transparent, I haven’t had this EXACT diaper bag since Blakely was born. I recently found it on sale at my favorite baby store (Born Baby) and I wish I had gone with it sooner. It is extremely deep in that it holds so many items!! It’s super comfortable on my bag, and let’s not forget stylish! The best part is when they no longer need a diaper bag, you can use it for them (or yourself) for traveling! It’s one that I find timeless and won’t go out of style. I would recommend this diaper bag to any new mom over the cheaper one I had before.
10. CHANGING PAD

Sometimes more expensive doesn’t mean better, especially in this case! This changing pad is less than $30, and will do the job for us as long as Blakely is in diapers. It fits on just about any changing table perfectly and it’s soft and comfortable for your babe. I ordered two soft covers that matched Blakely’s room theme too, which made it even more cute!
