I think a lot of time we over-complicate living a healthy lifestyle. It doesn’t have to look like waking up at 5am or going to a spin class or eating smoothies for breakfast. It doesn’t have to look like going on a 10 mile run or consistently sleeping 9 hours every night or journaling every single morning.
It CAN look like these habits (and that is great!), but it doesn’t have to.

The word wellness looks like implementing a lifestyle that actively supports YOUR mind and body.
What health looks like for one person, may look completely different for the next.
Wellness is more than just checking boxes off a checklist. It’s about finding balance in your own life and in your own well-being. It’s about taking the time to tune in to your mind and body and asking it what it needs. It’s about consistently showing up for yourself. It’s a lifestyle and a movement that positively radiates your mental and physical health.
If you’re looking to enhance your wellness routine and practices, you’ve come to the right place. I’m sharing 10 easy, practical habits that can help you improve your overall wellness. Even trying to implement 1 or 2 of these into your daily routine will be transformative. Start small, keep it simple and bring it back to the basics:
- good sleep
- self-reflection
- whole foods
- movement we love
- getting outside and connecting with nature
HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR DAILY WELLNESS ROUTINE:
IN YOUR BODY:
- Start A Consistent Workout Routine – From running, to yoga, to lifting, to boxing- find movement you enjoy. Moving your body is essential to improving your wellness practices.
- Nourish Your Body – Choose foods that make you FEEL good. Walk the outer edges of your grocery store first before walking down the aisles. Find the rainbow in your produce section and add to cart. Stick to organic produce, grass-fed beef and pasture raised eggs and chicken, and brands with an ingredient list you can actually pronounce when possible.
- Create A Night Time Routine – Implement a routine to help you wind down before bed. This can look like dimming all the lights, reading a book, doing a nightly skin care routine or drinking sleepy time tea. I’ve found I sleep the worst the nights I’m scrolling on social media right before I close my eyes.
- Hydration & Electrolytes – Don’t forget to hydrate throughout the day. Drinking electrolytes like LMNT or Nuun Hydration (my two personal favorites) can help you to replenish and re-hydrate after a workout.
- Taking a Walk – Feeling stressed, in a mood, or feeling down in any way? There is proof that getting outside surrounded by the color green, nature and trees can release dopamine and immediately improve your mood. So simple, yet so effective.
IN YOUR MIND:
- Brain Dump In Journal – Have trouble with constant overthinking? Set a timer for 10 min and put pen to paper to write whatever comes to mind. Then, if you feel like it, write some more. Getting all of our thoughts out on paper can be freeing. I especially like to do this before bed on the nights I feel stressed out and can’t figure out why.
- Morning Gratitude & Affirmations – Write down or think of 3 things you are thankful for and 1 thing you would like to affirm about yourself. Do this each morning to start your day on the best note. How we start our day is likely the energy we will carry into the rest of it.
- Do Something Creative – Using the creative side of our brain can be extremely therapeutic. This will look different for everyone, but may look like coloring, crafting, writing, drawing or scrap-booking. For me, it is blogging <3
- Laughter – Some say laughter is the best medicine, so find people, places, or experiences that bring you joy and make you laugh. This can be as simple as calling a fun friend or as complex as booking tickets to a local comedy show.
- Read A Book – Reading has so many benefits like helping you sleep better, increasing your intelligence & overall is a good outlet and stress release. It’s important to have a level-up mindset where we are wanting to grow and learn, and reading is a great way to do that. Find a genre you love, and maybe explore self-help books as well.
I hope you guys enjoyed the 10 simple tips to improve your daily wellness practices. All it takes is a little time and consistency to really feel a difference. <3
